Solar Power Generation

With the advances in solar cell technology and more efficient production methods, it is becoming easier and more affordable every day to build your own solar panels and create solar arrays. Nowadays, even the tax man is involved with implementing alternative energy solutions at the residential and commercial levels. There are state and federal programs out there that allow tax breaks and incentives to lesson the burden on the electric grid. In this section of the blog we will focus on experimentation and development of solar energy systems to lower your current electricity consumption from the grid, find available opportunities to “sell” electricity back into the grid, or eliminate your need for being attached to the electricity grid completely.

Well, it has been a long time coming but this portion of the blog is “Fix-n” to get busy! It is very exciting to know my formal Photovoltaic System Design course I am taking through SEI kicks off tomorrow. Just previewing the materials they sent out in advance of the course has me anxious to get started. More to follow soon.

Done slacking. Well, it has been a while, but I have successfully completed the SEI course. In a word “WOW”! That course changed my perspective considerably. I had never dreamed there could be so many facets to designing a photovoltaic system. I used to think it was simply a matter of getting enough solar panels to overcome electrical loading, invert the DC output to AC and run your stuff. Well, this course was an incredible eye opener, and the course was worth every penny! One of the more recent projects I have started working on involves designing stock pond aeration systems. -DV
